Remember “Safety First!”
It didn’t take long for skip Larry Stephenson, lead Jane Stephenson, second Doug Buchanan and third Kate Horne to get rid of the “Bambi-s” and play solidly August 22-26, 2023 in Abbotsford at the 55+ BC Games.
Playing in the 65+ Mixed Division, they defeated the Sears team from Armstrong in an exciting extra end final. Wait – shouldn’t Armstrong be in the same zone? No, Salmon Arm plays out of Zone 8 (South Central) which extends from Ashcroft/Kamloops to Revelstoke/Alberta border. Whereas Armstrong is in Zone 5 (Okanagan Similkameen) which encompasses an area from Enderby south to the US border.
The 55+ BC Games are the largest annual multi-sport event for the 55+ population of BC and offer an opportunity to participate in a wide variety of sports and activities from triathlon, archery and bridge to lawn bowling, soccer and swimming (to name but a few).
Team BC 65+ Mixed also qualified for the Nationals in Quebec City, August 2024.
Salmon Arm will be hosting the BC 55+ Games next year! We’re excited!
